So, who are you?
Hi, I'm Mark Blasko, founder of Cumberland Guitars LLC. and I want to be YOUR guitar guy.
I fell in love with the guitar around the age of 7. By the start of High School, I had decided that guitars were going to be my life's work. I wanted to know everything about them... all of them. I wanted to learn every style of music, feel every type of guitar, learn the history behind them...I was hooked. By 16, I was surrounded by guitars: buying and selling guitars on ebay as fast as I could and performing and recording with multiple rock bands, a classical guitar orchestra, a country band, and the school's Jazz ensemble.
At 18, I became a manager at the local vintage guitar shop, forever cementing my love of putting guitars in people's hands. I held several sales, repair, and guitar instructor positions in Virginia prior to attending and graduating from Atlanta's Luthier's International program in 2005. I managed Guitar Center's Vintage and Platinum Atlanta office for several years before becoming a Product Specialist for the Gibson family of brands (Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer, Tobias, Steinberger). After a few wonderful years at Gibson, I joined the ranks at Fender, assisting in the growth of their Specialty Brands division (Gretsch, Jackson, Charvel, EVH, Guild). I hold authorized warranty tech credentials for over 20 guitar brands, have toured every major guitar factory in the US, and performed over 1,000 live shows.
National Assoc. of Music Merchants (NAMM) member since 2004.
Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) Member since 2005.
Assoc. of Stringed Instrument Artisans (ASIA) member since 2005.
I am truly a guitar nut, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you and your instruments!
